Sustainable Seafood | Ocean Strategies - Page 3

Our mission in this work is to open the door to more conversations and actions that expand the commercial fishing workforce, diversify the industry and the beneficiaries of its success, and lay the groundwork for policies that can help commercial fishing fleets and communities thrive. As we deepen our understanding of these inequities, we will learn more about how they affect different people and communities, as well as how multiple inequities may exist between different cultures and across fisheries.

Ocean Strategies recently chatted with Diani Taylor, fifth generation shellfish farmer in Washington state and General Counsel for her family business, Taylor Shellfish Farms. Diani discussed the importance of seafood stakeholders engaging in discussion around climate issues, making sure shellfish regulatory processes work for farmers, and increasing diversity among sectors in order to ensure a robust, sustainable, and successful seafood supply chain.

Ocean Strategies recently chatted with Arlin Wasserman, founder and managing director of Changing Tastes, a management and culinary consulting firm focused on delicious, profitable, sustainable solutions. We tapped into his expertise to learn more about consumer behavior around seafood, the effect Covid has had on seafood sales, marketing and messaging opportunities, and proposed federal policies that will affect the sustainability of the seafood supply chain.
